Handcrafted Brigalow Bullroarers
Our bullroarers are traditionally handcrafted from Brigalow hardwood (Acacia harpophylla), a dense, durable native Australian timber that has been used for generations in Indigenous culture. Known for its rich brown tones and fine grain, Brigalow not only provides natural beauty but also the ideal weight and resonance required for a powerful, far-reaching sound.
Bullroarers have deep cultural significance and were traditionally used in ceremonies and long-distance communication. The strong, fibrous quality of Brigalow allows for a stable spin and deep, resonant hum when swung through the air — an authentic and unmistakable sound that carries across open landscapes.
Each bullroarer we make is shaped and finished by hand to honour the natural form of the timber and ensure both sound quality and cultural respect. Brigalow’s strength and durability mean your bullroarer is not only a striking piece of craftsmanship but built to last.
At Memories of Australia, we are proud to work directly alongside members of the Indigenous community to create authentic, culturally meaningful products. Supporting Indigenous Australians is at the core of our mission — from sourcing materials to artistic collaboration — ensuring that traditional knowledge, culture, and livelihoods are respected and sustained. Every product reflects this commitment to partnership, empowerment, and celebrating Indigenous heritage.
