Description
Discover the beauty and cultural significance of Indigenous art with our Hand-Painted 18-Inch (45cm) Boomerang — a unique and authentic Indigenous Australian souvenir handcrafted in Australia. Each boomerang features a vibrant, contemporary design, carefully hand-painted by Arthur Conlon . These intricate artworks draw on cultural stories and traditional symbols, making every piece a meaningful expression of Indigenous heritage.
Made from Brigalow hardwood (Acacia harpophylla) — a dense, durable native Australian timber — our boomerangs offer both strength and natural beauty. Brigalow has long been valued by Indigenous communities for its use in traditional tool-making. Its rich grain and earthy tones provide a stunning canvas for Indigenous designs, resulting in a boomerang that’s as visually striking as it is culturally significant.
Each boomerang is individually hand-shaped and painted, ensuring no two pieces are alike. This makes every item a one-of-a-kind collectible and a unique addition to your home décor, office, or gift collection. Your purchase includes a certificate of authenticity and an information card explaining the importance of the artwork and the Brigalow timber used.
Please note: These boomerangs are decorative display pieces only and are not intended for throwing.
Whether you’re searching for authentic Australian gifts, Indigenous-made souvenirs, or meaningful Indigenous art for home décor, our Brigalow hardwood boomerangs are a beautiful way to connect with and support First Nations culture.
At Memories of Australia, we are committed to working directly with Indigenous communities to create culturally respectful, ethically made products. From sustainable sourcing to artist collaboration, every aspect of our process honours traditional Indigenous knowledge, supports local artisans, and helps preserve the rich cultural heritage of Australia’s First Peoples.
Arthur Conlon Hand-Painted Boomerang Collection – Exclusive to Memories of Australia
This striking collection of decorative hardwood boomerangs has been individually hand-painted by celebrated Aboriginal artist Arthur Conlon, a Wakka/Kullilli man from Cherbourg, Queensland. Known for his bold use of colour and storytelling through art, Arthur captures key elements of traditional Aboriginal culture in each unique design.
Each boomerang in this series features one of four key themes:
🪶 The Bora Ring
A sacred ceremonial ground, the bora ring is central to initiation rituals and cultural learning. Arthur’s depiction includes radiant earthy tones and traditional circular symbols, representing connection to land, kinship, and lore passed down through generations.
🦘 Kangaroo Dreaming
Rendered in flowing, organic lines and energetic posture, the kangaroo symbolises strength, survival, and movement across Country. Surrounding dot work and brush textures mimic native landscapes and animal tracks.
🎯 The Spearman
This dynamic figure honours the traditional warrior – painted mid-throw, with strong, deliberate strokes that convey focus, action, and cultural pride. His connection to the land is shown through grounding motifs and ochre-coloured backdrops.
🎵 Didgeridoo Player
The didgeridoo, an ancient instrument, is portrayed as a vessel of story, rhythm, and ceremonial spirit. Arthur’s use of soft light gradients and grounded posture gives the figure a meditative presence, surrounded by symbols of music and spirit.
